Celebrating Singapore Heritage through Heartfelt Recipes
Embark on a Culinary Adventure
Immerse yourselves in the vibrant tapestry of Singaporean cuisine by creating dishes and desserts or drinks that embody the essence of our nation’s culinary legacy. Whether it’s a traditional family recipe passed down through generations or a modern twist on a classic, let your creativity shine.
Unleash Your Culinary Prowess
The competition consists of two rounds, each designed to showcase your creativity and passion for Singaporean cuisine.
Round 1: Share Your Heritage, Share Your Heart
In Round 1, participants will be required to submit a captivating video of up to 30 minutes showcasing a heritage-inspired main plate and a dessert or drink. Your recipes should utilise the fresh homegrown herbs and vegetables from our very own RGS Rooftop Garden as key ingredients, adding a touch of sustainability and environmental consciousness to your creations. Share a heartfelt memory associated with the recipes, allowing us to delve into the stories that are woven into the fabric of our Singaporean identity.
Round 2: A Culinary Showdown
Up to six finalists will be selected based on the creativity, authenticity, aesthetic plating and emotional resonance of their video submissions. They will then proceed to Round 2, where they will battle it out in a live cooking competition, held in person at the school on 1st May 2024. Finalists will recreate their main plate and dessert or drink, showcasing their skills and passion for Singaporean cuisine while tantalising the taste buds of our esteemed judges.
Prizes and Recognition
The top 3 winners of the competition will receive attractive prizes. Each finalist will be presented with a certificate of participation, The Rafflesian Cook-Off Chef’s Jacket and be featured on our Raffles Girls’ School and Raffles Girls’ School Alumnae website and social media platforms. The first 25 qualifying entries will receive a limited edition Rafflesian Cook-Off T-shirt.

To participate in Round 1, please upload your video onto YouTube and submit your application by 15 March 2024. Competition Rules are available here. Finalists will be notified via email by 1 April 2024. The final Cook-Off will take place on 1st May 2024 at Raffles Girls’ School.

The Rafflesian Cook-Off is an extension of the original project the school and alumni embarked upon more than 10 years ago, the cookbook Consuming Passion: Memories From The Rafflesian Table in 2013. Beautifully crafted, the award-winning book is a culinary bounty of delicious family heirloom recipes generously shared by distinguished alumni, current and past teachers and principals. Please contact Clorisa Loh to purchase copies of the book.
